saying hi, update

Hi guys,

I can't believe how swamped I've been lately--I know posting is lighter than usual. Sorry for the lack of updates on my amateur baking, pictures of baby animals, or links to cheesy jpop songs. I hope you have found a way to fill the void.

In the meantime, I wanted to tell you about upcoming Editorial Ass E-Vents (get it? E because they're online? I just made it up, and I haven't had coffee yet, so it might just seem funny to me).

Write Your @ss Off Day

First, I know the ball is rolling already, but Write Your @ss Off Weekend is coming up! Pick a day, Friday 2/5, Saturday 2/6, Sunday 2/7, Monday 2/8. Here's JES's superawesome map showing where all over the world people are writing from (yes, I'm clicking back every couple of hours just to look at the pretty colors; humor me).

If you do a WYAOD, send me (in comment or in email, whichever you're more comfortable with) your progress report (writing, researching, meditating, whatever your personal progress might be) at the end of the day and a link to your blog--I'll post everyone who wants to be posted on Tuesday to commemorate forever our accomplishments.

Book Club 3/1: Porochista Khakpour's SONS AND OTHER FLAMMABLE OBJECTS

The Undomestic Goddess and I have put our heads together and come up with an awesome Book Club E-Vent for 3/1. It will be interactive and multi-dimensional (impressive, right?) and will definitely include awesome prizes and activities. You should plan to drop by even if you haven't read the book yet.

Looking forward to the WYAOD! I'm getting a bunch of people I met doing NaNoWriMo together at my place on Saturday. I'll poke everyone to wander over here and post word-counts when we wrap up and have food! I think the total number of people is five or six - right now.

Cid--that's so awesome. I wish I'd been able to set up a write-in; I haven't found people who wanna play yet :( But I picked Saturday; I guess there's still some time!

I'm in for Saturday.

Looking forward to plenty of cute baby animals when this is over.

Have you done moles yet? Baby moles are weird.

I think I'm just really lucky that during NaNo I got really connected with a bunch of the writers in my region. Joined the small critique group two of them had going and a friend started a monthly nano meeting - I just had a pool of people to coerce - erm - ask to do it ^__^

I'm on Sunday! I added my marker just this morning. Mine's all isolated. :P
Thank you for setting up this opportunity! It's really making me get my @ss in gear after pretending I'm too busy for a while.

I am so doing WYAOD! I really need to get my rear moving with writing and this will help. I'm in for Saturday, especially since it looks like it's gonna be a snow day here :P So a perfect time for me to work on my book.

Also added my little brown marker on the map.

Thanks for doing this :)

I like eVents. Or EVents or however it should be capitalized. Well played, Moonie.

Wait, I thought it was this last weekend! I got in 7 hours on Saturday, if you count a few hours yakking with other writers.

Well, let's see. I may try for part-time on Saturday, since I'm too lazy to change the date on my marker.

My goal is to finish short story A, and work on submitting the other two I've got (hopefully) finished.

Some of the aforementioned yakking writers are also Nanoers. We decided we liked meeting together so much in October and November, we'd meet once a month year-round. There was a lot more talking and youtubeing than writing, though.

I'm going to try to write my ass of on both Friday and Saturday. I've got a top secret work-in-progress that I'm nearly finished, and those two days should do it.

I'm so there! I'm writing my tushy off Saturday from 11am-7pm. WYAOD should get me to the half-way point in my manuscript. Yeah!

I'm in on Friday. I have a short appointment in the morning but I will do everything I can around it! Just started a new novel on Monday so your timing is exquisite. :)

I'm signed up, but my weekend is already starting to get very busy--I don't know WHEN I'm going to find eight hours of writing. But I'm going to try!

I have a feeling WYAOD is going to turn into LMAO day for me.

We'll have to see.

Whoo hoo! I didn't miss it. I thought it was this last weekend, too, and between me and my husband getting sick, I barely got any writing done. Well he was sick. In my case, it was a mule-kick from Mother Nature followed by allergies. But hey, it still wiped me out.

Put me down for Friday the 5th. I'll be trying for the whole weekend if I can manage it, but I can at least do Friday. My brain is revved up to go.
