how are you spending your Valentine's Day?

I'm spending mine (alone, as I'm dog-sitting for my parents in yonder far-removed countryside) hand-crafting a multi-colored schedule for the next two weeks to hang on my wall. I need to know that I'm going to be able to fit in my Olympics watching with my editing and my social engagements. (And yes, I'm afraid that's the order of the priorities at present. Notice how "noodle-eating" didn't even make the list! Crazy times we live in, these.).

In case you, too, are making a schedule, I highly recommend using several different colored pens. The multi-colored component is very important. For absolutely no other reason than it makes the schedule extra pretty on your wall. I also used a ruler. And graph paper.

Must go now. I have a LOT to do (obviously).

Happy Valentine's Day, Moonrat! We're celebrating our dog's one year adoption anniversary today. I would rather be watching the Olympics but cartoons are on right now. My youngest son is sick so I can't even break out the chocolates. Darn germs from school.

Creature Feature marathon for me, with writing breaks in between. And a Happy Losar (Tibetan New Year)for everyone.

Shivering. No surfing today in my Beloved Florida due to the most recent invasion of Yankee weather.

Gung hei fat choy! In honor of Chinese New Year, I'm making...jambalaya? Have to feed my hard-working husband and son, who are laying slate in our house-in-progress.

Also continuing to Write My A$$ off on my WIP, taking up where I left off last weekend.

Alone, working on homework due tomorrow and ruining a formerly working diet with mass quantities of unnecessary chocolate. If only I could be working on my WIPs then at least I could have a happy Valentine's day.

Writing ... once I decide how to cook the thawed meat on the kitchen counter.

Goofing off here. (The Missus and I did our Val's-Day dinner date last night.)

Even selecting from among multi-colored markers sounds like too much work today. If you've got a videocam or a cell phone which can function like one, you should use it to make up a mini-video for us to show off your mad calendar-making skilz. I'd feel darned productive watching that.

So glad you have time for all those coloured pens, Moonrat...

Unfotunately, I'm spending mine with a stuffed up head. We had planned on visiting Animal Acres (a farm animal sanctuary) and participating in their vegan baked goods sale, but...

I hope to feel well enough to write later and that's about it. Crappy V-Day for my poor wife.

Happy V-Day to you and your colored markers. I hope you have a wonderful time together!

:-)

Gifts were exchanged, and tonight we shall cook a pot roast and drink wine and watch Big Love -- kind of business as usual, so I guess you could say every day is Valentine's around here.

BUT! A dear friend sent me a care package a few weeks back, one of the items being the 24-pack of Ultra Fine Point Sharpies. I can now color-code EVERYTHING. They don't call 'em Ultra Fine for nothing.

Chinese food, chocolate, and BBC's Pride and Prejudice. I'm looking forward to it!

Everyone in our house is sick and grumpy.

Kitty's making gnocchi and asparagus for dinner, though, so there's that!

No noodles? Seriously? Wow. I'm speechless. (Why is my husband clapping?)

We're in the middle of No Man's Land, PA, aka Indiana. (I'm serious, it's a town in PA.) I can hardly breathe. I need a city, stat!

I have been WATCHING the Olympics, or at least the very small selection thereof filtered through to the US public. Used the superb BBC coverage as another reason why we should move back to Europe.

Happy Valentine's Day.

I was going to leave a comment saying how it's crazy that i'm actually working (read: writing) on Valentine's day, but it seems like I'm not alone.

I probably am alone, though, in that I'm only working because the wife and I spent the last two days having a romantic trip out of town and staying in hotels and sight-seeing in a town no one goes to to sight-see.

I ate dinner alone at my favorite restaurant's bar because my valentine is the chef and is working tonight. Pink champagne and other yummy things. In about 45 minutes my father will be bringing the kids back from a night with the grandparents. And my gift to myself is that I am going to spend the rest of the evening doing me-things (reading, writing) until my honey gets home.

Colored pens. Schmancy schedule. Moonrat: are you perchance a Virgo?

Ashley--no, but I'm a late Leo. Why? Was it the colored pens?

My daughter (in university) has the best colour coded schedules I've seen. She creates them on her spreadsheet. Each course has it's own colour. Different shades represent class time, study time & work on assignment times. It's crazy!! Also looks great on her bulletin board. I wonder who she gets her OCD tendencies from...????

Moonster, I fear that hand crafting a schedule is too bizarre to have been made up. I am also alone on this glorious day, as my g.f. is on active duty in the Army for the next six months or thereabouts.

Well, I'll be your stalker-from-afar Valentine's.

Happy, Valentine's Day, Moonster.

Happy Valentine's Day, Moon Rat! I spent mine (in Japan, so it's over) asleep. Last week, I ended up in 3 clubs, and went to wedding, a reception, karaoke and a snow festival, so I was pooped!

Lunch w/husband, napping and lots of rewrites! Also, I got circular knitting needles for Valentines day, so there will probably be some knitting in there as well. :)

My eldest is a Virgo, and making organized, color-coded schedules and such seem to make her a very happy girl. I thought it must be something in the cosmos!

lol, i spent mine writing while sitting on the couch with the olympics on softly. it was great.

Ashley--For others, who use colors to mean something, I think it demonstrates Type A leadership personalities. Your daughter probably gets very good grades and will some day have an excellent job where she runs a department.

I think in my case (where colors have no meaning at all beyond synesthetic applications) it's a symptom of mania.

But thanks :) It's good to feel human!

I spent yesterday watching the olympics, baking cupcakes, watching more olympics, eating cupcakes, eating steak w/ my husband, and watching more Olympics :). The steak and cupcakes made it officially Valentine's Day.

I guess I'm just in awe of the schedule-makers and list-checkers! Oh, and I like pretty colors, too.

Ahh schedules and colors to boot.

We went to Arches National Park. It started well until my husband slipped in the snow and hurt his ankle and it kind of went downhill from there. Two of the three kids got sick, but overall a nice weekend.

Vday made the mistake of falling on Tet so I spent it eating and gambling with my friends. :) Poor hubby was sad, but hey, Tet's been around way longer than Hallmark.
