just finished reading

A new book by Dolen Perkins-Valdez called Wench, about a resort in free Ohio where plantation owners take their slave mistresses the summer of 1853. I was lucky enough to get my hands on an advance reader copy and am glad I took a crack at it. My review is here.

Ha ha! I'm so glad others had the same experience!

Moonie, this IS a long day, isn't it?

You a tough reviewer, Moon Unit.

The raw fish comparison was devastating.

There is no way on God's Green Earth that I could get away with having a book entitled "Wench" lying around. Just saying.

Thanks for the tipoff--this is directly related to a semi-main character in my WIP.

Deep River--ditto, when I'm at home. Dorm, not so much. And since my mom's interested in the subject, if not novels, I can tip her onto it.

Adding this to my list immediately. It sounds like just the type of book I'm looking for right now. And the fact that it takes place in my native Ohio is a bonus.

LOL to the sushi comments. I was late to the party and missed that!

Read your review yesterday since I follow The Book Book Blog. I'm reading Octavian Nothing right now, so the subject matter is really pushing my buttons.

It's definitely got to be one for my tbr list, though. Thanks for your review!
