Contest!!

Ok, not here. Maybe I'll have a contest soon (I've been cogitating some ideas of General Awesomeness). But Backspace Agent-Author Seminar, a New York writers' conference, is holding a contest for two scholarships to this year's conference. Check out details here. And hey, if you end up coming to New York, drop me a line--I know where ALL the best karaoke bars are.

Which reminds me. SHOULD I have a contest? Are those kinds of things still popular these days? I haven't done one in... more than a year, actually.

I think you should have a contest to figure out the identity of your author who was portrayed in a movie.

I'm assuming my two guesses yesterday helped narrow the list but did not solve the mystery.

I don't enter many contests, but they do seem to bring the lurkers out of the woodwork.

Yes, contest! But can I win two years in a row? Well, technically, Pamela won for the both of us so I should be good.

I like contests, but I never win. I usually push the envelope 'till it tears!

Haste yee back ;-)

Contests are fun. I'm having one right now to win a copy of Donut Days by Lara Zielin, so you know...anyone itching for a contest while you decide, should drop on by!

cheers,
Joelle

If you have one where people have to type the word verification right the first time, I would definitely LOSE.

I think you should have a Karaoke contest ;) have people submit clips of song videos - to win . . . something.

Have a kind of survivor/American Idol thing where you pick finalists and then a poll of readers votes people off the blawahg ;)

Could be fun

You can have a contest, or I can continue to make up my own, like that one about beating my friend on number of Network Statistics on LinkedIN. I started to calm down after I hit 1 million, and am standing at 1,274,700 now, including a famous Korean, but it would be lame to brag...although I do try...

You know where all the best karaoke bars are?? That alone is worth the price of the trip! =)

I enjoy contests but I often don't take part because of the time constraints. I'm going to run another one myself soon.

Hate contests. Never win.

But you go ahead and I'll watch from afar.

As long as it doesn't require me to submerge myself in a vat of treacle, I'm in. Nasty treacle incident a breakfast. Brrr.

Btw, I'm intrigued to know if you've ever covered any Englebert Humperdinck classics. They surely need sealing over.

Oh but make it a writing contest, it's so fun to read all of the entries to those!

Contests are ALWAYS popular.

Especially those that accept global entries. Like entries from New Zealand.

Hey! Maybe you should have a contest to see which of your readers live farthest away. ;)

I would enter a contest, sit on my head up side down or eat Liver and Onions for the chance to pick your brain and ask you publishing questions!

A contest that doesn't involve being first on the spot (never fair for us Aussies/New Zealanders...) would be awesome.

If the prize involved a critique of the winner's first five pages, that would be even better.

We'd be your slaves of gratitude... : )

I love contests but no one seems to have them anymore. You should have a short story contest and the prize should be a new childrens book. Chidrens books RULE!

Definitely have a contest!
