you go, Jennifer Weiner!

Look at Jennifer Weiner's idea for reforming book review culture. She berates newspaper owners who have suggested bailouts (news services should be a watchdog, not a lapdog, she points out) and proposes a revisiting of the kinds of books being reviewed and the way titles are chosen.

You take 'em, sister.

I am book recommendation columnist for the Colorado Springs Gazette. I recommend only books I like! And I write in a conversational, light-hearted manner! And I write about any genre, any year published! Sure, I've covered some heavy-weights...but also some "lighter" stuff, too...like Angie Fox's THE ACCIDENTAL DEMON SLAYER.

My blog has sample of the columns I've published. I wonder what Ms. Weiner would think of them. (But I don't want to KNOW, unless she thinks they're good). Ha!

Good for you, Anita, and good for the Colorado Springs Gazette. That's the kind of coverage I pray newspapers will stop themselves from slashing.

Great stuff! Just wish she'd mentioned DEBUT authors and SMALL PRESS pubbers. Wield your influence, Moonie. I'll friend her on fb and flex my wee bicep. Peace, Linda

Thanks for the encouragement, Moonrat! In fact, I featured Tess Holthe after the coverage you gave on her WHEN THE ELEPHANTS DANCE...thanks to you, thousands of folks in CO Springs read about her book. Fun, how we're all connected.

I love Jennifer Weiner. She's one fo the reason I took a leap and started writing women's fiction.

Good for her, and good for her for speaking out. There are too many people who are complaining about changes in the confines of the kitchen and not actually going out and taking ACTION.

You mean I'm not the only person sick of reading about how many women philip roth has slept with/hated/resented/been intimated by?

Seems ironic to mention the Wall Street Journal in almost the same sentence as "...lest those people and institutions expect favorable coverage in return for their cash."

Hollow laughter. Best I can do.

(I'd totally read the matron of the art's review pages! lol)
