I'm trying to talk my book club into reading it.

Read your review on The BookBook.

Sounds a must-read, and a "weeper" (a book that makes me weep).

I read it for my book club. We're a diverse bunch and we all loved it.

When the book first came out the author and her editor Lee Boudreaux spoke at McNally Robinson bookstore here in NYC.

Lee recounted how she'd taken only the first 100 pages home with her the weekend the agent submitted it to her, but when she started reading she was so taken with the ms she flagged a cab, went back up the office and got the rest of the manuscript. She wasn't willing to wait even until the next day to read the rest.

That became my benchmark of course: can you get an editor into a cab to read the rest on a Sunday night!
