hope in the rejection cloud darkness

May all aspiring authors someday have Janet Reid tell this story about them! (Poor Janet.)

How great she is to share that story! And definitely a mood booster. I had the perfect agent and that's what I want again. Someone who's in it for the long haul, and who is absolutely positive she can sell my work.

Wow, how lovely she shared this slightly embarrassing story.

I got a request for a full from Janet, followed by a not-right-for-me a week later. I can only hope she'll come to my book reading one day and ask me to sign her book.

As someone who has been rejected by Janet, I admire her as an agent, and as I said on her blog, I would be too embarassed to say something like that to an agent's face. Now, would I go home and gossip to my friends about it, probably! :)

I attended a panel discussion of editors and agents once and they were asked about books they were sorry they'd turned down.

It was eye opening to hear people fess up to rejecting may bestselling books...

This business is so not a science, is it... If it were, it would be so much easier for all of us.

Thanks for the link! It was a great story, very humbling, and perked me up (sad, I know). It's good to be reminded there is someone out there for all of us.

That was an uplifting story and a good reminder that there are...more fish in the sea? Oh, you know what I mean. I enjoyed it thoroughly!
