I went to a delicious Shanghainese restaurant and ate so much I'm not sure I'm going to survive the night.

Ouch.

I love Chinese food. And, like the Romans, you can always purge.

AV--yes, you're right. that seems like a solution.

kim--the romans were too hard core for me!! i learned something about their banquet behavior recently that really can't be repeated on my blog!! like, the purging was only the first stage!! there were two others, if you can use your imagination... all accomplished simultaneously over specially-designed tables...

I have no idea about Shanghai, nor what the people there cook — but I do understand the phenomena of being able to see every last capillary in your bloated abdomen, and the subsequent urge to rush at lightning speed from small children bearing wooden spoons.

Suggestion: lie down till Christmas, then skip Christmas.

I keep peppermint oil and candied ginger slices on hand for just such occasions, though I try to avoid them as much as possible. I fear being sick! Anyway, both help digestion and stomach upset. :)

Hope you feel better now!

Hmm. To clarify, I meant I try to avoid the overeating situations, not the actual peppermint oil or ginger slices.

Also, peppermint or ginger or ginger-mint teas also work!
