guess who's crazy.

That's right. Me.

I just signed up for NaNoWriMo, which I'm going to lose because I don't have time. Even under the best of circumstances I could never write 50,000 words in a month. But if you're signed up, friend me so that, surrounded by victors, my defeat will be less lonely.

I'm (shocker) "Moonrat."

Hey, good for you!

You're my hero. I'm still too cowardly (or more likely, too lazy) to join. Best of luck.

Good for you! I signed up this morning. No idea, no outline. This should be fun.

Sorry. As much as I empathize with you and enjoy your comments, I won't be signing up for NaNoWriMo.

I'll be working on my current novel in the hopes that it will someday grace your 'official' desk.

Good luck to you!

Good luck to you. Hope the freezer's well stocked.
Even if you don't have 50,000 words at the end of the month, I bet you'll surprise yourself with how much you write.

You're crazy. Consider yourself buddied by me too, and count yourself lucky that at least you're not one of the MLs.

That would be (crazier) me.

Seems like nearly everyone is signing up this year. I shall buddy you forthwith.

Duly added. Have you signed up for your regional group? Mine is having a pre-NaNo get together/potluck this week.

I'm on the fence about NaNoWriMo this year... I have a mg that will never be 50,000 words that I want to revise next month, so I think I'd be guarenteed a 'fail whale' before I even began!

There's some time though. Still thinking...

After a week of chewing my nails in indecision, I finally signed up this morning. I'm a Nano virgin and going for the full experience since I have absolutely no idea what I'm going to write. Like sllee3369 said, this should be fun.

I've never done nano... does it matter that I've already started my wip, cuz I'm not putting it to the side to work on something completely different for a month...besides I've got a deal with Precie, so this one's got to be done by the end of December...

Best of luck, Moonie.

I have buddied you! I'm "Hezzah" over there.

Well can't disagree with you there. yep, you're crazy.

Good luck, though.

November finds me in the middle of a WIP, so no NaNo this year. I'll have to cheer for you from the sidelines.

I suppose this means we'll be reading a little less on your blog for a month. That's okay. I'm sure the novel you eventually produce will make your absence worth enduring.

Good for you. I've added you as a buddy as well. Good luck!

Ha! Welcome to the insanity!

I have never "won" but I do come out a winner. It provides an impetus that's hard to get anywhere else.

I'm Judg if you want to add me.

Good luck to you. I wish you well. I've never done NaNoWriMo, but almost everyone in my writers group has. I'm seriously considering it this year. A few days left to decide.

I'll be crazy and lose with you. :) And I'm even cheating and have part of my novel started! I still won't make 50,000 words.

Calenhíril said...

I'll be crazy with you. I'm etoiline on the NaNo site. I hope you have fun! This will be my 5th year, and I actually have more plot than I think! Yep, this should be interesting...

I'm seriously considering it...I have no idea of what to write but have been missing blogging and would like to try something new...

moonrat said...

go for it!! i've seriously decided it's ok to bend the rules--i, for example, don't have a specific project in mind and doubt i'll get to 25,000, but want the word count incentive. join up!!

I'm on there! As " irysangel " :)

Lurker adding you. I'm TheCory over there.

Good luck! :D

I may give it another go this year. I actually have an idea I think I could carry on for 50,000+ words. I've tried the last two or three years. Made it to a piddly 10,000 words last year (but never bothered posting them to the NaNoWriMo site). Good luck!

Just randomly came across your blog and want to wish you good luck for NaNoWriMo this year! I have joined two years prior and lost both, didn't join last year, decided to join again (and win?) this year. Cheers!

LindsRay said...

I added you to my buddies on NanoWrimo.

I'm rather terrified myself. I've never attempted anything of this magnitude before. I keep repeating, "It doesn't have to be GOOD."

I'm doing NaNoWriMo again (SpyGirl116), third year. I never win, but the community and the message boards are so totally worth it. See you there!

The Screaming Guppy said...

Welcome to the fun! I've joined for the first time this year myself. I'm really looking forward to it, and the forums so far are really great.

ehadams23 said...

I friended you as "ehadams". This is my second year. I won last year but this year I have a lot more going on so we'll see how it goes. Good luck!

Good luck and have fun, Moonrat! You have all of our permission to neglect your blog!

I am in full support of NaNoWriMo and similar events. (Do you realize there are elitists who actually think NaNoWriMo is a bad thing?) Some years ago, before I started writing fiction for publication, I tried a weekend novel-writing contest that involved long nights of emailing really awful manuscript bits back and forth with a friend. The best thing about it was that we had an excuse to write in an uncensored way, without fear or self-consciousness. We could ALL use more of that...

P.S. I just attended a NaNo meeting because my 10-year-old daughter is giving it a try (they have a youth division), and one of the first things the leader did was have us draw a picture of our "inner editor." Mine looked like a very cranky Philip Roth. Then the leader took our pictures away and locked them into a box until post-November... which made me a little sad, because I liked my little drawing. But I get the idea.

they have a youth division?!?! tell your daughter "woohoo" for me! i didn't write my first novel until i was 12.

("unfortunately" all the copies of that manuscript have been "lost.")

Welcome to the terror.

Just finished plotting mine out tonight!

The "crazy ones" are those, who don't join, because they miss the very special, wonderful experience to have wings.

Besides, it does not take much time to win - I need less than 50 hours and I'm slow with typing.

I am a veteran like ian plus this is my second year as ML.

We crazy people gotta stick together.

I'm "write" there with you on the time thing. And my parents, sister and sister's boyfriend are coming into town Thanksgiving w/end.

I'll have to force feed them turkey and wine and pie...until they pass out.

Love your site...first time here. I'm signed up for NaNoWrimo...writerkathie is my username! I don't have the time to do it, but I'm going to anyway. All it takes is a quick hour and a half per day...
