100 Year Anniversary of the Publication of Anne of Green Gables

Lucy Maud Montgomery (according to her diary) first held a finished copy of Anne in her hands on June 20, 1908.

As one of at least two women who fell in love with Gilbert Blythe as children and who still think that somehow they might eventually find him, I would like to take this moment to appreciate Lucy, and Anne.

Thanks, Book Inq, for the tip.

I have them all.
I have also "Imagining Anne:The Island Scrapbooks of L.M Montgomery"
(Epperly/Penguin Canada.)

I'm feeling a bit under-literate of late when visiting here because I haven't read many of these books. This is another one I haven't read.

Hell there, young lady.

I always find your posts both informative and entertainin'.

I read on PM a while back that there will be a new prequel to the Anne books. I think it's about Anne's time in the orphanage. Sounds interesting, but probably no Gilbert.

Oh, I love these books! Haven't read them in forever though...maybe it's time to get a new set (I had requisitioned my sister's set, and she requisitioned it back when she had a daughter.)

Ah...Gil. I think I'm due for visit to Green Gables soon (the book. Alas, I have yet to visit PEI).

I finally got around to reading AGG as a 36-year old homeschooling mother of six, reading it aloud to her 6-year old daughter. The daughter got bored and wandered away; I kept reading, each book in the series as soon as I could get my hands on it.

Oh in my heart I still love Gilbert. I got a kick out of this post. Thanks for that tidbit of information.

:)

My favorite of LMM's books is her poetry book (compiled): The Poetry of Lucy Maud Montgomery. And since my family lives in "Anne's Land" on PEI, I do own every single LMM related book ever made.
