this is why I miss England so much.

Teacake set to cost 3.5 million pounds [BBC]

The Uk Treasure is facing a 3.5m pound bill because of Value Added Tax wrongly imposed on a Marks and Spencer teacake for 20 years, the European Court of Justice (ECJ has ruled.

to add to the confusion, a teackae isn't really a cake per se. But it does go well with tea.

Other irony? TreasuryHM Revenue & Customs resolve tea cake issues whilst global markets dive...

On QI (brilliant BBC TV show) Stephen Fry educated the ignorant masses as to the differences between a biscuit and a cake. Apparently a biscuit goes soft when it's stale and a cake goes hard. Simple really!
Stephen Fry is one of the reasons why this Irish woman loves living in England!
