Amy's response to my last post
to which I would like to draw particular attention:
Perhaps all of those happy writers should send their darling editors gift certificates to fabulous restaurants, rather than another fruit basket. Your thoughts?
Amy
We've never met, Amy, but I'm sure if we did we would be good, good friends.

um....don't most writers make even less?
Most writers have a dayjob. Editing IS her dayjob. Therein lies the difference. :)
Excellent point.
Didn't think of that.
Thanks, EA! Next time I'm in NYC, I'll buy you lunch and you can show me where to buy green dresses.
Dave, if your advance doesn't afford you a gift certificate, you could always send your editor's publisher a hand-written note gushing about your editor's brilliance. That might, just might, be better.
Amy
HA HA HA!
For me, personally, I'd love a fruit basket because I adore fruit. But I'm kind of a weirdo.
So yes, gift cert. are the way to go IMHO because then the gift-ee can choose what they want.
